Hi there! I am so thrilled to be going back to camp this summer. I am currently living in Harrisonburg, VA pursuing my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at James Madison University. I grew up in several different places. Being a military kid, my family moved all over, so I don’t technically have a “hometown.” But, as some wise person once said, “home is where the heart is,” and I am so happy to have found a home in Rockbrook Camp. What I love most about Rockbrook is the amazing community of wonderful humans who bring life and joy to this incredible place- the campers and staff who make camp the haven that it is.

One of my favorite things to do at camp is to simply rock in one of the rocking chairs on the Hillside Lodge porch and observe all of the wonderful happenings going on around me. You see campers playing in the creek, an intense game of tetherball, mermaids getting their laps in at the lake, and beautiful smiling faces. You feel the sun’s glorious rays on your skin, or on one of the crispier days, you feel the refreshing breeze. You hear the most amazing storytelling shared by both campers and staff who find comfort and support in one another. Oh, and laughter…lots and lots of laughter. It’s all so magical. Can’t wait to be surrounded by all the love, kindness, creativity, adventure, and fun!

I’ve spent my whole life growing up in Louisiana, but Rockbrook has been my home away from home since I was eight years old! I’m the oldest of five kids, so leadership has been a pretty central part of my life since I was young and I’ve continued to develop those skills throughout my summers spent at camp. The Rockbrook community has without a doubt formed me into who I am today; I’ve made life-long friendships with people who bring out my most authentic self, and I attribute camp to my craving for adventure, sense of independence and constant desire to grow as a leader and role model. From quiet afternoons spent down by the creek with fellow campers to overcoming my fears and conquering a new river on a kayaking trip, I’ve developed a breadth of skills and experiences I couldn’t have gained anywhere else. Each year as summer draws closer, my heart always feels that tug to get back to the heart of the wooded mountain — I’m so excited to return to Rockbrook for my tenth summer and I can’t wait to meet everyone! 🙂

Hi, I’m Haile! Rockbrook has been my summer getaway for many years since I was a child. The chilly mornings and laughter-filled atmosphere throughout camp are some of my most fond memories. I grew up in a suburban town right outside of Atlanta, GA, so I am looking forward to camp life to see everyone in nature and their smiling faces. I particularly enjoy learning everyone’s favorite aspects at camp and seeing campers bond with one another. Watching everyone form lifetime relationships in just a few weeks is something so magical. I hope to contribute to the camper’s new memories and experiences and help camp feel like their home away from home. I can’t wait to see everyone!

Hi! My name is Iris, and I am so excited to be a CIT at Rockbrook this year. I have lived most of my life in the beautiful city of Charlottesville, Virginia, with my parents, little brother, and two adorable cats. There’s something about camp that is so magical to me. Perhaps it is the total tranquility, or the autonomy, or the ability to be the very best version of yourself. Whatever it is, I have gleefully anticipated camp every day of every year since I was 10, when I started coming to Rockbrook. One of the things that always made camp great for me was my amazing counselors, and I hope that I can provide the same guidance, care, and encouragement to my campers that they always gave to me.

Becoming a Rockbrook Camp Nurse appealed to me for many reasons! Typically I care for much, MUCH tinier patients as a NICU nurse, so hanging out with and treating the needs of older kids will be a fun change of pace. I’m a mom of four children (two boys, ages 14 and 13, and two girls, ages 11 and 9) and I love that RB strives to encourage girls to be themselves and appreciate the beauty and talents they’ve been given. Having the opportunity to care for girls and be a part of a mission that thrives on such positivity will be amazing. I always wanted to go to a camp like Rockbrook as a girl, so I’m is so excited to join in all of the fun RB has to offer. We live in the country with four horses and two dogs and so I love spending time outside, but the mountains of North Carolina (aka the land of Rockbrook) is one of my very favorite places to be outdoors in the world.

Hey there, Rockbrook girls! My name is Brooke, and I’m so excited to be back at camp this summer! I am from San Francisco, CA, originally, but then grew up in Atlanta, GA, and now live in Birmingham, AL and will be attending UGA in the fall (go Dawgs of course). Growing up all over the country has definitely made me love traveling, and I’m very into photography so I like to take pictures of all the places I go and people I meet! I also love to stay moving- whether it be ice skating, roller skating, swimming, climbing/hiking, or dancing to Taylor Swift music haha! Some of my other favorite things include sushi and frozen yogurt (with toppings of course!), listening to music, good sunsets, reading a good book in a hammock, and trying new things. I’m a huge people-person and love to talk, so I can’t wait to meet everyone and see some familiar faces.

Hey!!!! My name is Kendrick and I am super excited for another magical summer at camp. From the moment I came to Rockbrook as a first year middler, I knew that I wanted to be a Rockbrook girl. Some of my favorite memories are meeting new friends, becoming a mermaid in the lake, going white water rafting, performing in plays and skits, winning Miss RBC, and most of all, the countless memories I made with my lifelong camp friends! Rockbrook was always the place where I felt comfortable discovering my passions because of all of the freedom and acceptance. At Rockbrook, I could be myself without judgement. It is truly a special place and I am so excited to have the opportunity to spread Rockbrook spirit for my campers as a CIT!

Hi ! I am so excited to be counsellor at RockBrook this year. I am from London, England but my parents are French and American. This will actually be my first time coming to camp– I have never been to an American sleepaway camp before (only ones back home) but I definitely know what it’s like to be away from home. I am thrilled to meet everyone and be able to explore the NC mountains and learn all the traditions at camp 🙂 I hope the summer will be packed of good times and I am very excited to be swimming in the lake so soon.
