Rockbrook 2026

As a child, my siblings and I spent most of each summer with my grandparents (retired school teachers) where we grew up in Southern California. They encouraged us to be creative, silly, brave, and to try new things! We dressed in costumes, put on magic shows, baked cookies, practiced our fishing casts in the pool, built race cars using my grandpa’s red dolly, went on camping trips…this was my summer camp!

As I prepare for this summer at Rockbrook, I feel happy to be a part of this team of kind and caring humans who help to create this magical space for campers to let go and be their true selves. I am looking forward to seeing the new and familiar faces of this summer’s campers and staff, and getting to spend another summer as a part of this incredible Rockbrook Community. <3

Hi there! I may look a little different but I’m part of staff too! My name is Felix, and I’m Rockbrook’s camp dog! I’m 7 years old, but if you are around for second session, you’ll get to celebrate my 8th birthday with me! Some of my favorite things to do at camp are checking out trashcans for muffin wrappers, hanging out at the kitchen door, and “lifeguarding” at the lake! Well, I’m actually kind of a scaredy-cat when it comes to swimming. Speaking of muffins, I LOVE food. And trash. I know lots of tricks and will gladly do one for a treat! But my waistline would appreciate it if you didn’t feed me any food except treats given to you by a director. I’m a little shy at first, but once I warm up to you, I will be your best friend! You can find me hanging out with Sarah, taking a nap on the porch of the office, or running by with the Rockbrook Runners! I can’t wait to see you this summer,

Although I was never a camper at Rockbrook, I grew up in Kentucky and attended a few different Girl Scout camps. I always enjoyed going to camp for the singing, making new friends, and sleeping in platform tents. In college, I knew I wanted to be a camp counselor and ended up finding Rockbrook. The community at Rockbrook is truly one-of-a-kind and has brought me back summer after summer. Now, I am lucky enough to live and work at camp year-round as Program Director and it still feels like a dream!

I hope this summer to make new friends, learn something new, eat lots of hot dogs, and to be appreciative of every moment spent at camp. It has been a joy planning the fun we will have at camp this summer and I am counting down the days until all of you are here with me!!

I was 16 my first summer at Rockbrook, and I thought working at a summer camp would be something to try once. Little did I know that Rockbrook would be a place I would never want to leave! It is the sweetest little place I can think of – so much happiness and friendship is developed here in this beautiful valley. Every year, I see Rockbrook work its magic by taking a group of open-hearted girls, filling their days with creative and fun activities, and surrounding them in a timelessly beautiful spot in nature. Even just a couple of weeks of camp can leave a mark on a girl’s heart forever. And for me, one of the best moments is watching alumnae return to camp and seeing the campers they once were come bubbling out in their joy just to return to sit on the hill again at RBC.

I started working at camp back in 1988, not thinking I would be back for more than a couple of years. But after meeting the people, spending nights in the surrounding forests, witnessing the incredible warmth and caring of the Rockbrook community, and marveling at how much a difference camp makes in the lives of all these Rockbrook girls, I was hooked. Camp life just grows on you. You find yourself eating well, sleeping well, laughing a lot, playing with abandon, and growing through all sorts of unexpected challenges. Being around kids all day, you’re reminded of things about yourself that you’ve forgotten, like how to be silly, how to be OK with quirky things, and how to be excited about almost anything. Can you see why I love it?

It’s a true privilege for me to be a part of this special place. Every summer I look forward to meeting everyone and returning to enjoy our time together in “the Heart of a Wooded Mountain.”
