Clara Miller

Clara Miller

Hi, guys! My name is Clara, and I’m from Athens, Georgia. I’ve lived there my whole life, but after camp ends, I’ll be moving to Minneapolis-St. Paul to attend Macalester College. Go scots! I am currently undecided, but I’ll most likely major in political science and economics.

I’m SO excited to be back in the heart of the wooded mountain this summer. Attending camp through middle and high school was such an incredible experience for me, and I’m really looking forward to sharing that experience with my campers. As a young camper, I loved Rockbrook for the gorgeous scenery, the fun activities, and the crazy theme days. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve also come to love how camp lets young girls push their boundaries and explore new things in a supportive community. I’m so excited to show a new group of Rockbrook girls the beautiful landscape of Brevard, teach them in their activities, and help them build relationships that will last a lifetime!

Jules French

Hey there, hi there! My name is Julianna French, but I go by Jules! I’m from a Malden, a small town in southeast Missouri. I’m currently a rising junior at the University of Mississippi, and I love it so much! I am so excited to embark on my adventure as a FIRST time Rockbrook girl, and am looking forward to everything camp has to offer. Although I’ve never been to camp, my older sister was a counselor a few years ago and visiting her allowed me to get a taste of just how fun camp can be! I can’t wait to spend all summer by the lake, hike the mountains, and take those trips to sliding rock and Dolly’s 🙂 I’m looking forward to discovering the best parts of camp, and getting to know everyone in the Rockbrook community, and experience those all fun traditions! See you all soon!

Piper Oosting

Hey there! I’m Piper and I am thrilled to be coming back to Rockbrook this summer!! I live in a small town a bit outside of Atlanta, GA and am currently counting down the days until I’ll be attending the University of Ottawa this fall! I grew up coming to Brevard every summer until I was introduced to Rockbrook. Now I can’t imagine spending my summers away from the amazing community created at camp! I have been missing the no-pressure/carefree attitude, connection with nature, and personal growth that camp brings. After the craziest year ever, coming back to camp will be the breath of fresh air I’ve been needing(quite literally). I can’t wait to spend this summer in the cosmic corner working on some fun projects, enjoying a rest hour rain shower, singing until I lose my voice, and sitting on the junior lodge porch reading a book or just enjoying the stellar view. I am so excited to meet you all and have the most amazing summer in the heart of the wooded mountain!!!

Connally Hobbs

Hey! My name is Connally Hobbs, I am currently a senior in high school and will be attending Wake Forest University in the Fall. I was born in New Canaan, CT but moved to Atlanta when I was two, and have lived here ever since. I have two younger sisters–Cece and Claire, two dogs–Chloe and Dallas, and three cats–Scout, Skye, and Cole. I was a competitive gymnast for 12 years and now play golf! My favorite foods are: peanut butter, sushi, Chick-fil-A, and camp muffins!

My mom was both a camper and counselor at Rockbrook, and the reason why I became a RBC camper and counselor myself. I started at Rockbrook when I was a junior camper, and fell in love with every aspect of the RBC community. Whether its singing camp songs at lunch, white water rafting, making friendship bracelets, climbing the Alpine Tower, running from a spricket, jumping in the freezing cold lake, going to Dolly’s, trying to catch my breath as I walk from archery to curosty, or crying as I say goodbye on the last day of camp. I know that Camp is the one place where I can escape the real world, make new friends, try new things, and make memories that last a life time!

Shannon Ayres

Hello all! My name is Shannon and I am so so excited to be back at camp! My last summer was my HUP year which was four years ago, crazy! I grew up in Alexandria. VA, right outside of DC where I attended high school. I am now a rising junior at Colgate University in Upstate New York. I am so excited to be in NC for the summer because the last day I was in NY (April 30th) it snowed! So I am ready for summer!

I am so excited to be coming back to camp as a counselor and lifeguard. My counselors were always one of my favorite aspects of camp. I actually reconnected with an old counselor recently, so their influence really does live on. My favorite thing about the lake is always working on mermaid laps and the polar plunge! I also so ready to be able to log-off of everyday stress for a while and relax and have fun at camp. Camp was always my reset time and I think we all need it more than ever this year. Can’t wait to see everyone!

Hello Friends!
I am sooooo excited to be back at camp this summer, it has been too long! I am originally from Marietta, Georgia and I just finished my freshman year at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. I have always loved going to Rockbrook because it has served as my sanctuary or home away from home for the past eight year and it never fails to leave me better than it found me! After a busy and semi-normal freshman year, I am so ready to head back to Rockbrook and enjoy the simple life. At camp, you can find me on the porch of the Hillside Lodge making some cool jewelry, reading a book on the hill, or walking with the Rockbrook walkers. I am so excited to jump back into the Rockbrook community to meet some new friends!

What a privilege it is to be joining the Rockbrook Camp family this summer and guiding campers amidst the incredible natural resources of WNC! There is nothing I love more than helping folks seek the joy of all the amazing outdoor activities there are to do here. I use she/her/hers pronouns. I moved to WNC after working at a summer camp in Nashville, Tennessee for seven summers and teaching at an outdoor education program in northeast Alabama. I came to these mountains to run a nature-based overnight camp near Dupont State Forest. After four years there, I started my own company conducting trainings for camps all over the world with a focus on supporting camps in the southeast. Whenever possible, I am out exploring and finding new trails and new ways to adventure. I’m a trail runner, whitewater enthusiast, backpacker, geocacher, cyclist, and wanderer. You can often find me playing on my SUP or my whitewater raft on the French Broad or Pigeon rivers or practicing my roll in my whitewater kayak. I’m a total nature nerd. I love all the incredible wildflowers we have here in WNC and watching the tadpoles grow up in the puddles across the street from my house. If I am not outside, I’m thinking about being outside. Let’s go play!

Hey, I’m Julianne! I am beyond excited and overjoyed to be working as a riding instructor at Rockbrook this summer! I have grown up in a sea of orange and always cheering on the tigers in Clemson, SC. This will be my first year at camp, but I just know I am going to love the summer breeze in the mountains. I have ridden horses since I was 9 years old, almost 12 years this fall, and have always enjoyed taking care of and being around not just horses but all animals. I am currently a rising Junior at Wofford College and study Business Economics and possibly a minor in education, as I have been student teaching the month of April and May. I can’t wait to be riding and spending time with all the campers and horses this summer! I hope that I can be a light each day for campers and help them to learn all they want and become confident on and off the horse.

I have lived in Atlanta all of my life, but I consider Brevard my second home. I am an only child and I have a pet hamster (I am so sad I will be away from it this summer). Over quarantine I have found joy in playing soccer for my school and club team. I have also enjoyed going camping about once a month for the past 2 years. Every summer I look forward to making friendship bracelets on the hill and doing the Polar Bear Plunge. Some of my favorite out of camp trips I have been on are a Leave No Trace backpacking trip when I was a Middler or the Looking Glass trip for rock climbing.
