Castle Rock towers above the lower part of camp. You can see it best from standing on the hill in the center of camp. The WHOA (Wilderness, Hiking, and Outdoor Adventure) staff often take campers on the 25-30 min steep, somewhat scrambling climb to the top, where they all get a view of the French Broad River Basin Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. For campers who are ready for something beyond the Alpine Tower, there are several climbs of varying difficulty set up on the rock. It’s a great place to catch a sunset!
