Icebreakers get people talking to each other, clear up misconceptions and hopefully bring people closer togther than they were before in a very short period of time. Every counselor should have 1 or 2 icebreakers in their “bag of tricks” to use when their cabin first arrives and in their activities to create a sense of commonality, community and fun!
A classic “getting to know you game” is structured so that the person introducing themselves also relates who they are to a superhero, animal, plant, item in a mall, etc. You can phrase it like this: “Tell us what your name is and what [insert superhero/animal/etc] you would want to be and why?”
