Say hi to Allison who will be joining us this summer at Rockbrook. Allison is currently a Junior at Tennessee Tech University where she is majoring in Fiber Arts. You won’t be surprised to also learn that she’s excited about helping with the arts and crafts program at camp… batik, block printing, weaving, beading, sewing, macramé, even a cool Japanese method of dyeing cloth called Shibori. Allison’s also into rock climbing, gymnastics, and yoga.
Lexi Sears, who’s pictured here on the left (if you can see through the sprinkles!), is returning this summer for her 9th year at Rockbrook. She was a camper for most of that, completed the CIT program, and will be a full counselor this year for the second time. She has helped out at camp with our Needlecraft activity, Drama, and as this photo shows, has always been up for anything… even a whipped-cream pie in the face? Lexi is majoring in Environmental Studies at Florida State University and is from Safety Harbor, Florida.
It’s Katie! After starting at Rockbrook back in 1999 when she was just nine years old, and now after completing the CIT program last summer, she’s set to be at camp this summer as a full counselor. With all this camp experience, it’s easy to understand how she can be such a “Curosty Master!” Last summer, she also worked with the girls on the run activity at camp. Katie’s from Vienna, Virginia.
If you haven’t seen it already, there’s a cool Rockbrook Camp “fan page” over on facebook.com. It’s a unique page where you can show your support for RBC, post photos, write on the wall… you know, the usual facebook stuff! Go check it out. It’s at this link:
Oh, and there are lots of videos posted there too.
Callie Almond from Roanoke, Virginia will be returning to join the Rockbrook staff this summer. As a girl, Callie was a camper at Rockbrook Camp for three years, and now attends Emory and Henry College where she’s majoring in English Education and Theater. Last summer Callie really got into whitewater kayaking, and she wants to do even more this year. That’s Callie in the center going down Sliding Rock with a couple of camp girls.
It’s always wonderful to see former campers become full counselors ready to give back what they received over the years.
The traditions live on!
