From the second the rising bell rang at 8 a.m. this morning, we sprang out of bed to greet all that the day offered. The beautiful weather today allowed for lots of lake time, outside craft making and zip-lining to our hearts content. With this being the final activity rotation, campers are making the most of their last selection of activities. Walking around camp, the excitement and enthusiasm campers displayed for their new activities was tangible.
In Painting and Drawing today, girls were finalizing many of their projects to display in the upcoming art show. The show features items from each of our craft areas including photography, painting and drawing, basket weaving, loom weaving and pottery. In addition to these creative displays, the camp newspaper was published today. It is packed with stories, investigative reports (favorite muffin flavors) and drawings. It is humorously called “The Toilet Paper”, as it is displayed prominently in each of the camp bath houses. Campers who contributed to The Toilet Paper were excited to see their work in print. Furthermore, girls worked hard in pottery today glazing their projects with different layers of color, ready to be fired in the kiln.
The Rockbrook kitchen staff really wowed the girls today with our Mediterranean lunch of falafel, hummus, veggies, feta cheese, and pita bread. Campers found the meal so delicious that they sang to the kitchen staff after devouring their meal. Lunch ended excitedly with the announcement of RBC surprise, the Biltmore Train– an all-you-can-eat ice cream delight. This longstanding Rockbrook tradition is always a highlight for the girls.
Our day came to a close with an action-packed, talent-filled gymnastics show after dinner! Campers have worked hard all session learning various stunts and jumps. The gymnasts proudly showcased their abilities, and they were received with cheers and applause from their friends and counselors. What a day we’ve had in the heart of a wooded mountain!
We are so looking forward to the final banquet tomorrow night. The CAs have been very busy decorating for their secret-themed party. We are surely in store for some wonderful festivities!
