Greetings from Chrissy, the Waterfront Supervisor, here to talk about the first day of this activity rotation. We’re so excited that the Rockbrook girls who joined us on Sunday were able to kick off their first day of activities with such beautiful weather! This morning started off with hearty bowls of oatmeal and fresh blackberries, preparing us for a steady day of fun. The sun shone brightly this morning as our girls headed off in many directions across camp to start off this activity rotation. Walking around you could see the excitement of girls shooting a bow and arrow for the first time, revisiting the tricky sides of the Alpine Tower, and finding comfort in the stream’s cool waters once again. The morning was full of smiling faces!
Two climbing trips went out today to climb Rockbrook’s very own rock face, Castle Rock. Paddling hosted a roll clinic for kayakers to hone their skills. The wonderful weather brought out the best in every activity. Plenty of mini sessioners have signed up for the play and are jumping right into the rehearsal process. First free swim this morning was extremely popular, and girls’ faces lit up on the slide as they came splashing down into the refreshing lake.
Awaiting us in the dining hall at lunch were homemade tacos and fresh guacamole. After lunch we had a really relaxing rest hour with a well-timed rain shower that cooled us off and ended just in time for activities to resume. With the sun shining again, afternoon activities and second free swim ran smoothly. Twilight this evening consisted of two great projects for the girls to choose from: hula hoop making and a garden harvest party. Today was undoubtedly a classic day at Rockbrook–girls making new friends, trying new activities, and enjoying both the warm summer sun and the cool mountain shower. We cannot wait to see what tomorrow will hold in the heart of a wooded mountain!
