Here on the spookiest day of the year, Halloween, we have been sharing some of our favorite campfire tales. There are so many legends and stories from this region, we are never short of tales to share around the campfire. Here are a few local legends that you may enjoy, some are spooky, some are funny, but they all would sound even better sitting by a crackling campfire in the dark. Don’t worry, we don’t tell the scary ones during the summer!
In addition to the stories listed above, Rockbrook has lots of it’s own legends and tales. There are some wonderful stories about the early days of Rockbrook and Mrs. Carrier, the camp founder. There are stories about Mrs. Carrier’s famous great grandfather, PT Barnum. There are some wonderful adventure tales about paddling the French Broad River from Brevard to Asheville, or riding horses over the mountain down to Greenville, SC. There are even a few scary stories, like the legend of Kilroy’s Cabin. Over the next few blog postings we will share with you some of these camp stories. We promise, the won’t be too scary!
