Counselor Tip #4: Find a Friend!

Even though camp is a very friendly place and is, in fact, designed to support close friendships, it’s still important to take initiative and reach out to those around you. Finding at least one best bud can help ease the stress of camp.

All the Pretty Horses

Horseback riding is a favorite activity at RBC. Here’s a picture of our beloved Barn Director, Cara Thompson. We love you, Cara!

Singing Camp Songs

Rockbrook girls love to sing! Mealtimes are filled with songs, clapping and hand motions. The “Hi-ups,” the oldest campers, are the ones that start them. Abby Petrozzi, 2008 counselor, informed me today that she sang a RBC song to her Masters’ in Teaching class! Once a camp counselor, always a camp counselor!

Bethany is Studying Abroad!

Veteran counselor Bethany Barton is studying abroad next semester in Ghana! She’ll be studying social work facilities and volunteering at orphanages among other things. Having experience as a counselor is sure to enhance this trip - go Bethany!

Counselor Tip #3: Exercise

There are several ways to stay fit while at camp. Among the many great staff perks RBC offers, the Early Bird Gym Membership is at the top of the list. Celebrity visits Brevard on Halloween

Is that Hannah Montana???!!! It’s actually Mandy, our program director out on the town for Halloween. If you were at the end-of summer staff party, you may recognize the super-cool fiber optic wig and remember the rather enduringly ridiculous farewell song - “We sure hope, we’re Facebook friends!”

Counselor Tip #1: Laugh!

Sometimes laughter is the best medicine! Camp offers you plenty of opportunities to have fun, and at the same time it can be one of the most exhausting and challenging jobs you’ll ever have (except, perhaps, being a mom…). Counselors who can relax and not take themselves to seriously not only survive at camp, but [...]

Counselor Survival Tips

If you were at Orientation this past year, you probably remember when “Santa” gave out the water bottles and socks filled with the following items that hopefully helped you through a sticky situation or two later on in the summer. Of course, these tidbits are good year-round!
