Fun in the Mud

Back in May, Sofie, our great Staff Director, joined three of her friends and entered a women’s team in the St. Francis Goodwill Mud Run down in Greenville, SC. This photo from Go Magazine shows her crawling through the first obstacle, and, from the look on her face, clearly enjoying the challenge.

The race included almost 30 different obstacles that required climbing, hoisting, rolling, carrying and plenty of running over 4 miles. Sofie’s team started at 8 in the morning and completed the course in about an hour.

Welcome to Catherine Frampton!

One of our long-time counselors is making the move to Assistant Program Director this summer.  We are so excited to have her join the team after working with our Hi-Up program for the past few summers.  Catherine will be assisting Mandy with events and camper activities.  Her enthusiasm will be invaluable, and we cannot wait for her arrival!

A little more about Catherine…

She is originally from New Orleans, LA and recently graduated from Sewanee University this spring with a degree in Women’s Studies.  Catherine participated in numerous university activities, but was most involved in her sorority most recently as President.  She also studied abroad in India for a semester and loved it.  Around Rockbrook, she has taught lots of crafts and tennis.  Many of our campers also recognize her as the founding member of the “Wockbrook Walkers” group.

Rockbrook Camp: Bowling Champions!

The year-round staff competed in the Brevard Camp Bowling Cup last week. Our team was made up of Charlotte, Mandy, Connie, Richie, Gary, Jeff and Lily. The results: Team Rockbrook won and took home the trophy. It’s now proudly displayed in the window of our downtown office.

The evening was exciting as 6 local camps came in team uniforms to the local bowling alley. Other camps in attendance were Camp Carolina, Camp High Rocks, Gwynn Valley Camp, Keystone Camp and Camp Illahee. After round one, Charlotte (RBC Associate Director) and Gary (maintenance staff and bus driver) made it to the championship round. After an intense final, their combined scores brought home the trophy.

Director Spotlight: Charlotte Page

Super-Charlotte!

It’s always a good time when Charlotte is around! Charlotte Page grew up at RBC and has been a director since 1996.  She’s known for her humor, compassion and her positively-messaged t-shirts.  This camp season, Charlotte took on the role of “Parent Liaison”, and worked with new campers and their families. She also helped out with the play, and many other camp events.

Charlotte lives in Brevard. She loves animals, including her poodle, Henry. She also gives riding lessons at the Free Rein Equine Therapy Center and coaches an after school fitness/self-esteem program called SmartGirls. AND, she is currrently training for her next triatholon! Whatta woman!
