Adventure Summer Camps Challenge Course

The summer adventure program at camp includes the challenge “low ropes course” portion of Rockbrook’s Alpine Tower. This is a series of obstacles and events where girls, instead of climbing, enjoy different group initiatives, cooperative games, and other summer adventure activities designed to challenge everyone to work together and accomplish some task. It might involve everyone balancing, or swinging on a rope, or walking a log, but it will certainly require some real problem solving and cooperation. The fun and adventure comes from being together and experiencing the power of teamwork when faced with a challenge. Pretty cool stuff!

Summer Kids Games

What is that thing?! Well, the kids at camp have named it “The Toy,” but it’s basically an aqua ropes-course, a climbing structure made of wood and rope suspended over the water on one side of the Rockbrook lake. The most popular game kids play on it is really challenging— you try to reach the farthest of 5 rings (like the girl in the photo) as you go out hand-to-hand over the water. Of course, if you don’t make it, there’s a fun splash at the bottom! But if you do make it to the last ring, and only a few kids have, we announce your name in the dining hall and reward you with a special treat/prize. Do you know what the prize is? Let us know in the comments!

Rock Climbing Camp for Teens

Here’s a shot from a rock climbing trip up at Castle Rock, the big granite outcropping on the Rockbrook Camp property (literally in our backyard :-) ). It’s just one of the climbing spots we have at camp, and along with all the other outdoor adventure activities offered —backpacking, whitewater kayaking, sea kayaking, mountain biking, ropes course, day hiking, whitewater rafting— it’s one way Rockbrook girls “play outside this summer.”

One of the more popular activities at camp is climbing our Alpine Tower. It’s a 50-foot-tall climbing tower with over a dozen different elements. With so many ways to “get to the top,” campers look forward each summer to coming back and climbing again. It provides a great way to learn about rock climbing techniques and safety, and just to have fun outside.
