Hug your horse!
Why would you do that? Well, it’s because you love your horse. He or she becomes a really good friend of yours at camp. Like all good friends, you’ll grow closer with good communication, trust, and consistency. Horse riding requires all of these, and over time riders and their horses become more and more responsive to each other. A real emotional bond begins to form, a real feeling of care.
That’s what we mean when we say at camp you can “befriend a special horse.” Riding, you’ll develop a special relationship with someone wonderful. It won’t take long; soon you’ll be hugging your horse too!

Isn’t that the funniest picture you’ve ever seen!? You just never know what kind of silliness will burst out down at the Rockbrook stables. Certainly making the horses “look good” is a part of it!

Equestrian Jumping at Summer Camp

One of the most common questions we receive about our equestrian camp for kids is if girls can learn how to jump. Naturally, equestrian jumping is an advanced skill and it requires a great deal of practice and knowledge to do it safely. That’s why, while the answer is “yes, you can learn how to jump,” you must first be good at most other horseback riding techniques. Equestrian jumping requires a high level of accomplishment that you have to work up to. Step by step, you’ll have the right amount of challenge added to your lessons, and eventually you’ll be ready for jumping. With good personal instruction and well-trained horses like those at the Rockbrook equestrian program, kids can learn how to jump. Over your time at camp, you’ll be really good!
Kids Horse Riding Camps

Kids horseback riding camps aren’t just about riding horses; they’re also about the horses themselves, about taking care of them, learning about them, and getting to know them. Sure you’ll walk, canter, trot, and jump, and practice your horse riding techniques, but what do the horses eat? What about the shoes on their feet? How do you keep the horse clean? How do you adjust a saddle and a bridle?
Horse Riding Camps like Rockbrook are about all of this. Just being around these amazing horses is a cool part of the experience. You can’t help but grow more familiar with horse care as you grow more skilled and confident in your riding.
